The Long-Term Care Savings Plan needs your help!

The Long-Term Care Savings Plan needs your help! Last year, an effort to increase the tax deduction from $1,000 per individual ($2,000 per couple) to $2,500 per individual ($5,000 per couple) stalled in the Revenue Committee and failed to reach the floor of the Legislature. But we're not giving up. Express your support for the LTCSP by sending a letter to your State Senator and encourage them to make this a priority in next year's legislative session. Just fill in your first and last name, email address, and then submit. Thank you!

Dear Senator:

As your constituent, I am concerned about the financial impact the pending retirement of the Baby Boomers will present to our local economy. That’s why I encourage you to support the increase of the Nebraska state tax deduction for the Long-Term Care Savings plan.

As I’m sure you already know, Medicare does not cover long-term care medical costs and with the continuing expansion of our Medicaid budget, we need to offer our citizens a strong incentive so that they can begin saving for these expenses now. This kind of smart public policy will no doubt save our state valuable tax dollars down the road.

You can support the Long-Term Care Savings Plan by making it a top priority in next year’s legislative session. By increasing the deductible from $1,000 per individual ($2,000 per couple) to $2,500 per individual ($5,000 per couple), the Long-term Care Savings Plan will have the critical mass it needs to become a force for savings in Nebraska.

I thank you in advance for your consideration on this important issue.
